Think about the quotes that we have learned so far this year.  Pick one of the following quotes and describe how it would relate to your book.  Think about the motives of the characters, the setting, and/or the events in the story to help you make a connection.  Who would say this quote in your story?  When and why would they share it?

1) "Today is the first day of the rest of your life."
2) "Be kind: for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle"
3) "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
4) "Some people feel the rain, others just get wet."
5) "We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are."
6) "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
7) "An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind."

Fiction: You are sitting in the food court at the mall.  You notice the protagonist (the main character) from your story eating dinner.  He/She looks like they are waiting for someone to arrive.  You walk up to them and say....? What questions would you ask him or her about what has happened to them in your book so far?  How would you challenge them about decisions or choices they have made?  What might you tell him or her?

Non-Fiction:  Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful?  If so, how does he or she achieve this?  If not, what could the author have done to make the information more intriguing?

Welcome to Blue 8's Language Arts Blog!

If you are reading fiction: Introduce us to your story's BASIC SITUATION. Who are the characters? What do they want? What is the conflict of the story so far?

If you are reading non-fiction: Introduce us to the topic you are reading about. Who or what is the book about? What do you expect to learn by reading this book?

Be sure to include your name, the title of the book, and the author. Be sure to use clear language in your post. Avoid using text lingo.
