Fiction: You are sitting in the food court at the mall. You notice the protagonist (the main character) from your story eating dinner. He/She looks like they are waiting for someone to arrive. You walk up to them and say....? What questions would you ask him or her about what has happened to them in your book so far? How would you challenge them about decisions or choices they have made? What might you tell him or her?
Non-Fiction: Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful? If so, how does he or she achieve this? If not, what could the author have done to make the information more intriguing?
If I came upon the main character in ZOMBIE HAIKU, I would first and foremost put myself in a plexi-glass box. The main character of my book happens to be a starving zombie looking for brains. I'd prefer to keep my brains alive and kicking, so a box would be my first line of defense.
ReplyDeleteUpon approaching this zombie in the mall, I might ask right off the bat, "Why would you attack and eat your mom? How could you?! Psycho!" I would expect him to respond by saying "Brains. Brains. Brains." I might also ask what it is like to go from human to zombie. In the story it seemed like the main character only experienced a brief painful moment, but then as soon as he became a zombie, he seemed good to go.
Furthermore, I might inquire about his decision to jump from a billboard when a group of zombies are stalking his life from the ground below. To me, that seemed pretty dumb. But, I guess he would have died from hunger if he didn't leave the billboard soon.
The last question I might ask the zombie is, "Who will you eat next?" It seems to me that the world is running out of fresh, lively humans.
In my book CATCHING FIRE the main character is Katniss. I would ask Katniss a few questions:

2. How easy is it to pretend like you love Peeta and does it get annoying and old
I would also tell Katniss she needs to be more careful about what you say to the districts on the victory tour and not do the same thing as she did for district eleven because if she does not fufil president snows task Gale will be killed
If I saw Clay Jense the main character of THIRTEEN REASONS WHY the first question that i would ask him would be "what was your feeling when you first heard Hannah's voice on the tapes." I would ask Clay this becauase he and Hannah had an inresting and short relationship, but clay was always had feels for her.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would ask why did Clay go to the red stars that hannah had provided for the people on the list to explore because Clay could have just stayed home and listen to the tapes there.
The next question/thougth i would share is what was your emotion as you were mailing out the tapes to the next person to have their life turned upside down because of how they pushed hannah to kill herself.
the last and finial question I would want to ask Clay would be if you were hannah would you do the same thing so people would have answers to their questions and who would you send the tapes to?
If I saw my main character in DARK HORSE By: JANE SLAUGHTER DOTY I would first Be myself, Because she is the same age as me, And of course love's Horses, I would ask, "How is your horse?" Or "How is your day's Working with horses?" If she responds nicely to any of those questions, We'll probably be friends by now, And Probably riding horses all day. After all that talking She probably would go back to Working on the farm, Because in the book She always there, She's never really at her house.
ReplyDeleteIf I walked up to the main character in my story REMNANTS SURVIVAL. It would be hard, for the fact that she is five hundred years in the future, and that earth was hit by a giant meteor and is now dead. I would ask, When you ate Yago, how did he taste? How annoying is he when he's talking to you? Did it hurt when he tried to control your body?

Do you have any ideas on defeating the troika, and their plot to absorb everybody on ship to evolve and become more powerful then ever?" I also might ask "After you ate Yago it would seem you would get stronger from practically absorbing him and gaining his energy." What was the point of Yago betraying all of you to begin with, so in a way i'm glad you killed Yago."
If I came upon the main character in HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERERS STONE[Harry Potter] I would first ask him how it feels to be a wizard who has been accepted into Hogwarts[best school for wizards in the whole world]. It makes me wonder because up until now Harry's life had been a lie because the Dursley's were hiding the truth from Harry. I personally would feel insulted. Another question I would ask Harry is if he wants to go to Hogwarts or not. It may seem that there is an obvious answer but when Hagrid was explaining everything to Harry he seemed to be very shocked and confused at the same time. He didn't seem as if he was sure he wanted to go. The last question I would ask Harry how it feels to be the boy who survived Voldemort's attack. It seems to be a huge deal because everybody is scared of even saying his name, and when people found out that a little boy[Harry Potter] survived when Voldemort tried to kill him, wizards all around the world started celebrating for some reason. Most importantly, if I were able to tell Harry anything, I would tell him good luck in your journey at Hogwarts if he decides to go.

ReplyDeleteIf I saw the main Character-Roy, I would ask him why he is so interested in the running boy. I would ask him why he chased after him for miles in very hot weather. If I could give him sosme advice I would tell him that he needs to tell his parents that Dana is bullying him because he didn't tell his parents that Dana was CONSTANTLY bullying him he only told them that he strangled him. I would also tell him that he shouldn't of wrote that apology letter for punching Dana because he doesn't owe him an apology, Dana owes Roy an apology because he is always bullying Roy and Plus the only Roy punched him is because he was strangling him to death. Was he supposed to let him keep strangling him? Its self-defense.
I am reading the book MODELS DONT EAT CHOCOLATE COOKIES by ErIn Dionne. If I came upon the main character in the food court, i would go over to her and ask her how and if she had told Sandra that she had gotten accepted for the modeling career. I would also like to ask her why she did not just tell Sandra how she felt when she was on the phone instead of just letting her go back on the phone to Lively. And why she didn't say that it was her turn. Not to let it go, but to speak up for herself.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to know why she did not tell her aunt when she was on the phone how she really felt about her aunt going behind going behind her back and sending an entry for her. She did not want to be a model. So, why should she have not told her she was upset?
I also would ask her if she was going to go ahead with the modeling career or not.
The main character in my book THE WILD GIRLS is Joan. First I would start out with asking her why shes at the mall and who she is waiting for. I would ask Joan why she is so scared for her parents to know things. Why did she pick the nick-name newt I would also ask her. Fox Joan's friend is very creative and responsible but not so people friendly. so I might ask why Joan has not helped her talk to other people.

Yuck." Then i would ask why in the heck would you decide to jump on the shards of broken glass? thats a noob move, bro. Then i would decide to introduce myself. After that i would say, "you need to just listen to what your told, and not leave your house or you will be captured again.

ReplyDeleteif i saw the main character from the book SPEAK i would ask the main character why she called the popos. like it will probably tell me later in the book. there really nothing important to ask except why she acts like a loser. like forreals bro. if nobody likes her why not at least try to make friends. and improve you style or something. like ugh. characters these days, so ghetto.
ReplyDeleteIf I came upon the main character in my book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory i would most likely give Charlie(the main character )some money. Charlie and his family are poor,live in a small shack with seven people,and can't really afford much. The questions I would ask him is...what was it like to be the last person in to find a golden ticket? , how did you handle the media attention? , and have things gotten better with you and family...do all of you have a descent financial state now? Also Charlie's decision to pick up the one dollar bill( that someone has dropped and left behind) and run to the candy store was a smart move to do, because when charlie when to go purchase a " Wonka's whipple-scrumptious fudgemallow delight". Even though Charlie is a poor young man he's smart yet curious.

If I ran into Junior, the main character of THE ABSOLUTELY TRUE DIARY OF A PART TIME INDIAN, I would probably walk up to him and say hi and introduce myself. Although Junior doesn't have many friends because he is strange and looks funny, I still think it would be enjoyable to carry on a conversation with him. I would also tell him how he is living miracle, because he was born with too much fluid in his head. The doctors didn't think he would survive, but he did. Junior also seems like the type of kid with a good sense of humor so he could probably keep me laughing. I would tell him to push through all of the teasing, beatings, and bullying, because one day, he could achieve his goal of being a famous artist.

I feel bad that your blind in one eye and have to put on so much. I could not be as strong as you. .I cried while I read this story. I just t don’t know what I would do without my mother. Sorry you didn’t lose her yet. I kept on saying to my self its going to be ok. Its only a book .Oh was your brother surprise when your mother was coughing blood? What were you thinking about when they thought it was your fault?. I give you props because I would have just had it When that happen. Stay strong , keep the faith and keep helping out. How does it feel knowing that she can never love anyone again because of the love theme she played in the games with peeta.
If i had seen my main character of my story called DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN by Sharon M. Draper witch her name is Keisha I would first ask her how did she cope with her lost of Andy and Robbie dieing not even a year apart.Her response would have been something sweet and simple like i had family friends and Monty to be there so we could both go threw it together beacuse they both hurted the same way.

Like I understand why she is hutrting but Andy would want her to love again even though she isn't with him.Keisha response would have been something like, Yes maybe one day when the time is right i will love again even though it's not the same with out him.
Also i would just ask her if she ever cried to this day and thought about about what it would be like if Andy was stil here. Keisha's responce would be something lik Yes all the time and I still cant even stop thinking about him.

If I was at the mall and I walked up to Katniss in the food court eating dinner I would first ask her for some money because now she is rich. Katniss is living large now that she is a victor so it would be nice to pass a little bit of that on.
Second, I would ask her about why she doesn't like her new life so well. I know that even though she had great relationships with people before and those might change, but now you are able to support your family. Also you are now famous, maybe not for the right reasons. She could still have those same relationships with those people( especially Gale ) it might just be a little more distant
If i saw my Main charter in my Story from SCARY STORIES THEasury i would first Ask her why is she in the Food COurt when She can't eat Without Teeth or Eyes And Who are you Waiting for .Also WHy was she Kill so Badly in her own house For money And where did er Eyes Go ? And what happen to Your SKin And hair why is it so thin and Light and torn Also why do You haunt peolpe in that Haunted House ? And She prolly Would Just answer I'm waiting for a precher but ha Can you Dig my Bones and take them to the Church to find out who my Killer was But i would Answer no way And walk a way but i prolly would say that Quiet because she could Haunt me or Kill me Yikees !

Well if I saw Patricia in the food court I would ask her what is she doing here? How is she? How is it like being the only child in her house hold? Is her Grandpa feeling good now? I would challeneg her by asking her all these question's and telling her what sh should do about them.I would tell her that i like the book and that i would be wanting to say thing'sd to her family just like you do.
